What it does

Combine your ROM and patch without a computer

UniPatcher reads a patch file, applies its changes to the matching ROM and writes a separate output file. It patches ROM files for older game systems; it does not modify native Android games or installed apps.

Simple workflow

Apply a patch in three steps

Keep the original file unchanged and choose a clear name for the new result.

  1. 1

    Select the patch

Choose the extracted IPS, BPS, UPS, XDelta3 or other supported patch file.

  2. 2

    Select the ROM

Use the exact game region and revision required by the patch author.

  3. 3

    Choose output and apply

Save a new file, run the patch and then open the result in a suitable emulator.

Visual guides

Supported patch formats

Choose the format supplied by the patch author; renaming a file extension does not convert it.

  • IPS
  • IPS32
  • UPS
  • BPS
  • APS (GBA)
  • APS (N64)
  • PPF
  • DPS
  • EBP
  • XDelta3

Use UniPatcher for common IPS, BPS, UPS and XDelta3 patching tasks on Android, plus the other formats listed above. Older XDelta variants are not listed as compatible. Read the supported-format guidance before troubleshooting a file.

Beyond applying patches

Focused ROM utilities

Three specialist tools cover common preparation and maintenance tasks.

Create XDelta3 patches

Build an XDelta3 patch from an original file and a modified file.

Scope: Patch creation is verified specifically for XDelta3.

Fix Genesis checksums

Repair the checksum in Sega Mega Drive and Sega Genesis ROM files.

Scope: This tool is specific to Mega Drive and Genesis ROMs and does not create a backup.

Remove SMC headers

Remove an SMC header from a Super Nintendo ROM when a patch requires a headerless file.

Scope: UniPatcher removes SMC headers; it does not add them.

Quick answers

Common patching questions

Compatibility usually depends on the precise ROM file, not only the game title.

Which patch formats does UniPatcher support?

Ten verified formats are supported, including IPS, BPS, UPS and XDelta3.

What files do I need to apply a patch?

You need a compatible ROM, the patch file and a location for the patched output.

Can I select a ZIP or RAR archive?

No. Extract compressed archives before choosing the ROM or patch file.

Why does a patch say my ROM is incompatible?

The ROM may be a different region, revision, dump or header state than the patch expects.

Does UniPatcher provide games or ROMs?

No. UniPatcher is a file-patching utility and does not supply copyrighted game content.
